We are using SAP Ariba Procurement to automate and streamline our procurement process. It is well suited for large scale and medium scale organizations which have high volumes of procurement activities. It not only help them to streamline their procurement process but also enabled them cost saving. For small scale organizations it is not suitable as it will be very expensive solution for them.

SAP Ariba Procurement Buying provides catalog ordering and indirect procurement, with approval workflows.
  • Guided Buying is good UI
  • Workflow configuration is easy to learn
  • SAP Ariba Procurement Pricing model is extremely bad for buyers and suppliers, there has to be something better that can be governed internally.
It is probably best for the person that needs to buy very rarely, due to the pricing structure is is not suited to run all procument processes through the system.

SAP Ariba procurement is used extensively in my org for complete service procurement cycle right from purchasing, buying, business networks.
Some of the main business use cases we are greatly helped by SAP Ariba procurement are namely end to end procurement digitised experience, cost reduction, business process visibility and informed decision making.,
  • Its data driven user solution helps in gaining visibility into the landscape and thus helps in informed decision making
  • End to end procurement process under single platform and integration makes it easier
  • We have always experienced cost reduction using SAP ariba
  • I would love to see more integrations
  • Would love to have more autonomy in defining the enterprise business model of my org and realising it in SAP experience
  • UX is great.... But I would love to make it more simplistic
Whoever wants a great solution for end to end procurement solution, SAP ariba is the best. Even if the business or the company is new to the market, it still cam use SAP Ariba procurement to realise their business and easily digitize their business landscape. Also well suited for SMBs.

SAP Ariba offers a solution to track our RFPs in a helpful manner
  • navigation
  • comparison of respondents
  • more comparison of proponents
  • sometimes proponents attach documents that are 'missing' when the information is viewed
  • I've received so many complaints from proponents (over many RFPs) that they cannot use Ariba, it is not intuitive. Perhaps create user guides that are readily available for proponents who are less computer savvy
RFP tracking is fine, the system is hard to manage when there are more than 3 proponents to evaluate

SLP and SCC modules on a global level, appreciate SCC support but miss the same on SLP side. Our Suppliers need a more efficient technical support, less administrationl work for our support and much quicker!!!
  • SCC support is very good
  • SAP Enablement team guide through all steps
  • Want to mention Momoko, AT&S Enablement lead, is very co operative and very supportive and friendly. It is a pleasure working together with her
  • Support AT&S supplier if they have technical problem with the plattform
  • Reduce administrative work for AT&S suppliers to get support
  • Harmonize SLP and SCC ; supplier as well as our colleagues prefere ONE view
  • Some features are very hidden ( use Excel upload for Sourcing)....need more development or training?
  • Restricted functionalities: AB for suppliers very limited
For geneneral products good support; the more specific a product the less support from plattform side

  • Approval of requisition works very well
  • Flexibility of the configuration for requisitions is good
  • Adjustment of solution for country specifics is fine
  • procurement data export delay shall be reduced in Ariba reports
  • Navigation for Users to view Accounding details shall be simplified as it has far fetching consequences.
It works fine for goods purchases. For Services is might be further developed. Out of the box solution for complex scenarios (multiple splits, mixed purchase types) might be considered.

We are using the SAP Ariba Procurement network to connect suppliers all over the world. The use of SAP Ariba Procurement for procurement purposes improved the efficiency of our procurement process. As a pharmaceutical company, we require many types of raw materials, instruments, equipment and consumables for manufacturing our medicinal products. SAP Ariba Procurement helped us to smoothen the procurement process and also brought transparency.
  • It allowed us to connect to millions of suppliers.
  • It brought transparency in procurement of goods.
  • It helps to manage and track order and payment status.
  • Navigation is not easy.
  • Getting live customer support is troublesome.
  • Sometimes errors occur resulting in duplication of PO.
SAP Ariba Procurement in conjugation with SAP S/4 HANA improved efficiency and output. SAP Ariba Procurement connects several vendors which helps to get competitive bidding for material to be procured. Vendor selection, purchase orders, and payments are online.

We use Ariba as our main STP platform, processing hundreds of transactions every month. Ariba's integrated functionality allows us to simplify, expedite and monitor our procurement processes.
  • Source of potential supplies
  • consolidate and integrate buying processes
  • Invoices management and processing
  • Reporting
  • Catalogs Management / Governance
  • Supplier's support
  • Implement AI functionalities
Ariba facilitates our STP processes. It's a simple one-stop shop to process procurement transactions and integrate our vendors into our systems. The caveat remains on reporting. We don't have cleat visibility on the number of transactions processed every month, it's cumbersome to get a clear cut from the Ariba network side, we don't have the $ of transactions processed daily/monthly/yearly. Would be great to track catalog purchases / non-catalog purchases, TOP 10 suppliers, etc.

Would be great to improve the Contracts module to allow better management of active and future contract. That way companies wouldn't need to go for SAP partners to fulfill gaps

We use it for both direct and indirect procurement. We have been able to get direct procurement to work well although we have had some issues getting some of our supply partners enabled on Ariba. We have it set up where they all have to invoice us directly the same way, other suppliers have been resistant to join the network. For those that do use the product, it works great and has resulted in a lot of efficiency for us. For indirect, we've had more trouble getting users to use the product, we do use it to create and receive on PO's but many users have trouble with this and we have had a hard time getting compliance internally. We also have only been successful in getting one supplier enabled thus far although we are looking at other and enjoy the ease of having catalogs set up in Ariba that our employees can purchase from.
  • Direct Procurement process
  • Purchase order approval and flow
  • invoicing from our suppliers who are enabled
  • Reporting out of Ariba is not intuitive
  • Not flexible for suppliers who bill us differently at the header and line level
  • Users get confused when creating a PO - not intuitive
Direct purchase of product that is going into inventory works very well, particularly with suppliers who are fully enabled. We do struggle getting Ariba to work correctly when we have multiple scenarios with our suppliers - ie freight that may change, incomplete orders, pricing etc.

We are P to O currently. Converting from ITK to CIG is not a problem, but if you have customized, the out of the box offerings are challenging.

Scope is: Nearly everything we have is in some way customized.
  • Order creation and history / Receipts
  • easy of integration if you are not customized
  • Support can be lengthy if not a P1. Solutions are confusing
  • Moving to the pay for support model for things that were including earlier
Does great with the things it was designed to do. Many integration options and offerings. Support has changed a bit recently that makes problem resolution problematic in a timely manner (without escalation).

We utilize SAP Ariba Procurement for supplier communication, procurement processes, and invoicing. This allows suppliers to communicate with us quickly and efficiently while keeping all details of a transaction together for ease of use.
  • Allows suppliers to submit invoices.
  • Provides detailed information for Purchase Requisitions and POs.
  • Reporting capabilities.
  • Occasional difficulties with sign-in and not retaining default settings.
  • Too many steps for invoice receiving.
  • Tasks show up in my list that are not mine and have nothing to do with my role.
For companies that are struggling with supplier collaboration SAP Ariba Procurement is an ideal solution. There could be challenges with suppliers who are not willing to utilize the SAP Ariba Procurement system and this could present difficulties and require negotiations.

We use it for all our Procurement Processes right from when an internal purchase request is raised upto the final payment to the vendor.
All communications are made within SAP Ariba Procurement and also the tracking and expediting is done through this software.
Further, Cost control and tracking is easier and systematic.
The amount of time and resources saved is huge. Cycle times are reduced and th ewhole history of a procurement is available at press of a button.
I can easily say SAP Ariba Procurement has led to saving in Time and Cost.
  • Entire Purchase Process is managed at a single location.
  • Direct B2B connections and vendor base buildup is possible.
  • Cost Monitoring and control in a logical, scientific way.
  • Creates a huge database of procurement across the company which can be used for future procurement to achieve getting the best price through deft negotiations based on a database.
  • Sometimes the system is slow. Cant say whether due to software or the system we use.
  • Dashboards could be improved and made more easily customisable.
  • Direct linking of Project Procurement Schedule with the Procurement Cycle of SAP Ariba will be a big step forward.
SAP Ariba is well suited for complicated procurement processes requiring lot of inter department interfacinng and comments and reviews at every stage.
It is possible to maintain complete history of the procurement cycle and records inputs from all stakeholders- internal and external.
It automatically creates a to do function on the system of the person at whose desk any issue remains unresolved.

This is the standard product to manage vendor invoices. Overall it is quite good and straightforward. From the end user perspective it is a bit late to the show as the UI/UX is a bit outdated. For example when you have to select/fill some of the fields the interface is not the friendliest to the user. I would propose to have a better/smarter "search as you type" inputs for approver fields and similar that have to be pre-filled
  • Vendor invoice management
  • Invoice payments
  • Procurement
  • UI
  • UX
  • Pre-fill of the fields based on historical data
It is well suited for bigger companies that have many sources for invoices. It is good to automate repetitive tasks/purchases and ensure proper business workflow. It is not very welcoming for the younger generation as they expect much modern interfaces and layouts. It may be not very straightforward for the first time users, which can be avoided by proper training. But wouldn't it be best if the system was intuitive and easier to learn?
